This morning we celebrated the coming of Spring.  Elder George, along with the drummers, led the school in a Gand Entry into the gym.  The students were very respectful and followed along to the beat of the drum.  Elder George shared about the importance of acknowledging the coming of Spring, blessed the food and sang a song.  The students returned to their classrooms and ate food together.  It truly was a wonderful celebration.

Dufferin Learn to Skate Celebration



It was a terrific afternoon for a walk to Pioneer Arena.  It was truly a community event.  We are so thankful to have the support of the Winnipeg Police Services as Cst. Garnie and Cst. Doug came out along with their staff Sergeant and Supervisor along with many police cadets.  Many parents came to support us in our parade. Once we arrived at the rink we took pictures, met Copper the police mascot and showed off our skating skills.  Students and staff from Hugh John were in attendance.  Many thanks to all the partners that supported the event.  Tim Hortons on Isabel and Ross, City of Winnipeg, Hugh John Macdonald, and all the staff and parents of Dufferin School.  Next year will mark our 5th year for the Learn to Skate Hockey Academy.
